Double Life?

The world revolves around different religions, and those of you who know me well, know that I have my own beliefs about religion and spirituality. I often wonder how those people who claim to be so religious can in the same breath talk about their neighbor or how someone doesn't have the right shoes on. I thought that the Bible teaches about loving your neighbor and helping those who can't help themselves. How can a person be "saved" and go to church, but get drunk on the weekends? Who is really the more righteous? The so-called Christian who gets drunk 6 days a week but shows up to church on Sundays or the person who is a genuine person who doesn't claim to be something they are not?

I believe that everyone should be allowed to practice their beliefs, but I do not believe in judging someone just because their views don't match the mainstream practice. How can a person be true to themselves and their beliefs, if they don't practice them all the time? How can you lead a religious life only when it is convenient, which is usually one day per week. I do understand that nobody is perfect, but those who claim to be religious and don't lead the right lifestyle are not being true to themselves-the most important person.

I got this idea from my friend Carla's blog, and I thought it was such a cute idea (thanks Carla!). Here are 5 things that people might not know about me and 5 places I would like to visit (drum roll please, ha ha).........



1. I would like to become a professional organizer. I have a secret obsession with plastic bins and my label maker. You wouldn't be able to tell it by the looks of my house right now, but once the basement is finished, my label maker will be out in full force. Along the same lines, I absolutely love the Container Store (a store chocked full of nothing but containers!) Heaven!!



2. I am adopted! Yes, for all of you guys who know me from high school, I AM ADOPTED! I was really ashamed to talk about it growing up. I guess ashamed is not the right word, but like most teenagers, I wanted to fit in, so I didn't tell anybody. I didn't tell my lifelong friend Jen until I was in my mid twenties! The story of my adoption is a whole other blog, so I won't get into the details. But I was 11 when I was rescued by my mom and dad. I miss them both so much.



3. I am a political junkie! I listen to talk radio everyday, and watch all of the political shows on Sunday. Poor Dave, he isn't allowed to watch anything on Sundays. After almost 8 years, he just deals with it, and reads the paper.

4. I hate marshmallows! Anything that has marshmallow in it- YUCK! I think Peeps are the worst invention ever. No smores, no marshmallow fluff, and (please don't hate me NC friends) no moon pies!

5. I hate hearing people chewing/swallowing their food. I can not stand the sound of licking. So, I need some sort of background noise while eating dinner. Since I don't want the TV on during mealtime, we turn on the radio on the satellite.



5 Places I would like to visit.....



1. Australia- We were supposed to take a cruise while we were stationed in Japan to Australia and New Zealand, but unfortunately my mom got sick, so we were not able to go. That is our number 1 priority!



2. China- We have been to Hong Kong, but I would love to climb the Great Wall. Hopefully someday.



3. New York City- I am a total city girl, so what better city than New York!



4. Ireland- Good beer!



5. Every continent in the world- Thankfully the Air Force has brought me to 4 of the 7!! I have Antarctica, South America and Australia (see #1)

So, I am getting with the program!

So, after seeing so many other people with blogs, I figured that I should get on board! I hate being left out! Ha ha. So, if you are reading this, then obviously you know me, so I don't want to bore you with the particulars!! Hopefully I am vowing to blog at least once a week, that can be my March resolution- ha ha. I hope it doesn't fall by the wayside like scrapping sometimes does. Right now, for those of you who don't live around me, we are finishing our basement, which is driving me crazy! There is drywall dust all over the house. I feel like my poor Swiffer is working overtime. My neat freakness is getting the best of me. I just need to stop and realize that no matter how many times I swiffer, whenever the heater turns on, the dust is going to fly again, totally ruining my work!

It seems like last week was the worst week for so many people I know, including myself. I had my purse stolen, and let me tell you, that is the worst feeling in the world. With all of this basement remodeling, I had $600 in cash in my wallet to give to the various people who are helping us. But, the money, phone and cards are not what makes me angry. I had pictures of Tiffany that I will never get back. With the world of modern technology and digital cameras, I unfortunately opted not to have the professional pictures saved on CD. Lesson learned! It just infuriates me that someone took something that didn't belong to them! I totally believe in Karma, but that belief got me thinking....what did I do to bring this negative karma into my life? I know they say that bad things happen to good people, but it still makes me wonder. I hope that I haven't done anything in the past to bring on this negativity, but if so, I hope I have paid the price.

You know the other thing that I was sick about? I did not want to give up my North Carolina drivers license!!! That is the last thing I have left from my beloved state. But, much to my excitement, North Carolina will replace your license online for $10!! My sweet husband did some research, and my new drivers license is on its way to Illinois!!! Yeah!

Well, that is one down. I hope to keep it up!!!!
